This interactive encourages users to use more energy efficient modes of transportation. It is aimed at kids between the ages of 7-12.
Users explore the idea of how choices about transport can have an effect on energy use in a city. By playing the game they come to understand some of the transport options available: Public transport, car sharing, walking. The final result shows the global impact of the user’s choices. This is displayed as a payoff animation on the 70 inch screen featuring a zoom out onto a view of the Earth reflecting how environmentally friendly their choices were.
GAME COMPONENTS
Energyville is a grid pattern city with a number of destinations: school, mall, offices, hospital, apartment block, factory, and oil drilling site.
The citizens of Energyville live in a residential area. Each type of citizen needs to get to a different destination: schoolchild - to school, office worker - to office, factory workers - to factory, doctor - to hospital and clinic, woman: to mall, and oil worker - to rig site.
The challenge of the game is to help Energyville use less fuel by sharing cars and using other forms of transport: walking, bus on a fixed route, electric vehicle, train to the office district, and even a helicopter for fun.
