DISASTER

SOUTHAMPTON SEA CITY - TITANIC GALLERY

WITH NEWANGLE

  • Looped immersive AV installation

  • 3 x 70” LCD screens

This animation tells the story of the last few hours between the Titanic hitting the iceberg and the rescue by the Carpathia, using edited oral testimony. Featured here is the detailed storyboard and a viewing copy of the final result.

The narrative is divided into 5 chapters: hitting the iceberg, lifeboats getting dropped onto the water, drowning under water scene, waiting to be saved, and getting saved by dawn.

These scenes are in turn visually reflected. In order to embody the emotion of these final stages, each scene has a different approach to the background visuals and to the typographic treatment.
